The little place we bought last year finally has had it's guts removed...
We have been waiting for the Army Corps of Engineers' approval to have our contractor begin the remodeling, finally this week he did the gutting.
Should start rebuilding/framing walls Monday. I will post before/during/after pics later.
Can't wait to see it come to life.
Remodeling is always quite an enterprise but it is exciting to see the end result! I can't wait to see your before and after pix. Thanks for sharing the excitement with our cabin life community!
We finished our major remodel mid summer last year, using a wonderful general contractor in the area, but doing this from 600 miles away! Took a couple years but WOW are we happy with the results. We used much more permanent materials than were available 45 years ago so expect nothing major for years to come! Now we are working on the landscape, shoreline mitigation, etc. and are finally starting to spend our resources on the "fun" stuff! Best to you...I am sure you will be happy with it all!!
sheet rock is up, after the long weekend they will begin the finishing work!
Couple more weeks and I'll post some pics
The remodeling finished this past Tuesday, perfectly timed 9 weeks on a 4-6 week project.
Good thing I planned my kickoff party for Thursday over a month ago, squeaked by with one day cushion.
Actually that one day (Wednesday) we moved in all the furniture, cleaned and prepped for the party.
I forgot to take pictures before we moved stuff in, but I will post pictures this weekend of before/after as promised.
It looks great and although I backed off some rustic features I originally wanted (knotty pine paneling) we found nice old hardwood under the rug in the main den area.
here are some before/after pictures I pulled together.

Nice job! It looks beautiful. I'm sure you're going to enjoy your updates for years to come!
Wow, I missed your posting on your remodeling. I checked your photos and I have to congratulate you on the nice remodeling job. Enjoy the new spaces and have a wonderful Labor Day weekend. I bet you are expecting a few visitors over the holiday. I'm myself heading out to the cabin for the weekend with my crew.
Thanks, it's not really at all rustic which I did want originally but I like it. The hardwood floors were a nice find under some old carpeting. Just had to sand and refinish them.
Most invited visitors for this weekend have bailed out due to other plans so it may be just the family. 5 kids though, so not a "quiet" weekend for sure.
Enjoy the weekend!
