If we're talking about cabin movies that'll give you goosebumps, I have to go with the original Friday the 13th. The first one is pretty darn spooky, and perfect for a night at the cabin when the thunderstorm is raging outside. Or in the bright light of day, if you'd prefer.

Just discovered another cabin movie suitable for family viewing, quite by accident. It was on NBC last night. It's called "Secrets of the Mountain". It is a new release. It's about a woman who inherits her uncle's cabin on a mountain and is in the process of selling it. She brings her three children with her to sign the paperwork, they end up staying at the cabin and getting involved in a mystery. It stars Barry Bostwick and Paige Turco. Evidently, it's on DVD at Wal-Mart also. The cabin is a great old-style lodge and I believe it takes place in New York state.
For me any old western - cabins, prairies, water, horses, wildlife - back in the day when people relied on themselves and t.v.'s, internet and cell phones didn't exist.
Hmmn,
I like the movie called alone in the wilderness, its a life story of a guy who tapes himself in the Alaskan wilderness, and he builds his own cabin and lives off the land. Its a great watch, very inspiring, its kind of documentary based.
another one which is kind of silly, is seven brides for seven brothers, its made in 1950s I think, and its quite commical really, its a musical that takes place in a cabin for the most part. humourous watch
there is also scooby doos camp scare for a younger audience
I think the best cabin movies are older ones like John Waynes North to Alaska
Not sure if anyone put this yet but White Fang both the cartoon and the movie can be good for watching,
Its not an official grouse hunt without watching National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. We also started a new game where we watch a movie and then go out for dinner. The game is to use one of the movies lines on the waitress/waiter. We did it after The Outlaw Jose Wales and it was hilarious.
The Grumpy old men movies are also cabin classics!
We just watched Grumpier Old Men last week at our cabin. It had been a long time since we originally saw it. Laughed ourselves silly. We had fogotten how funny it was!
One of my favorites is Deliverance!

Alone In The Wilderness is a GREAT documentary! Highly recommended.
I haven't seen the movie "The River Wild," mentioned starring Meryl Streep and Kevin Bacon. It will make you a bit tense.
I like all kinds of movies but sometimes a good scary/creepy movie is fun - like telling ghost stories around a campfire. Anyway - Cabin By The Lake with Judd Nelson is a good one.
TomCatCabin,
I'm going to check it out! I like the title.
